Thank you David, I will look into it this week. Although the snow has fallen in NH and I won't be getting to install anything for a few months. Praying for an early warm this spring so I can bang out these projects.

Any suggestions on wood bulkhead suggestions? I'd like to matchup the wood as best as possible. The old bulkheads came out with relative ease....

Hello Gang,
Thank you for the quick reply and great advice. And of course it snowed here today, so the project is pretty buttoned up until spring. However, I did have another question:
Is there a recommendation on the type of bulkhead plywood? I'd obviously like it to match up to the seats as best as possible, which I believe are mahogany. That said, are folks using a better product or finding a better supplier?
Thank you in advance.

Peter,
I just finished rebuilding #1085's interior.
Feel free to to call and discuss.
Hello,
My father-in-law passed down his old ensign that is in need of some solid upgrades. I'm sure I will have thousands of questions, but my first has tot do with the interior. The bulkheads were crumbling, and I cut them out after making templates. I did notice that the foam was damp and decided to cut the tops off the bunks and replace the foam. My question, are those bunks considered a "structural" piece? I was thinking I might tab in cleats and screw them down after replacing foam, but didn't want to upset structural loads. I can fillet them in if people feel it's necessary/required, but looking to make them easier to deal with in future. Thank you for any help!

To answer your question on if the bunks are structural that is a yes. The rest of your description of how and why your planning to repair for the future you lost me.
Sorry
Zeke
