Proposed ECA Rule Changes for Head Sail Attachment...

Proposed Rule Changes for the Ensign Class Association

Head Sail Attachment to the Forestay

Name of Proposer: ECA Governing Board

Proposal Date: January, 2019

Discussion Cut Off Date: June 1, 2019

Anticipated Formal Membership Vote: June, 2019

Rationale:

For completeness, clarity and ease of reading, the parts of the ECA Rules affected by roller furling systems and head foils should include references to the RF Rule (Part II Rule 9. L ). These changes simply add the luff tape/head foil as a legitimate method of attaching each of the head sails to the forestay in the case of a roller furling system.

These are simple changes, requiring no great analysis, added only for completeness and clarity of the rules.

These proposed changes go hand in hand, alongside the other current two rule change proposals in the ECA Forum, all to be voted upon in a Special Meeting and through proxy voting in June, following the appropriate discussion period.
