This looks like a Gudgeon used for mounting an external rudder on a J22 or J24. Check out the Rig Rite site at https://www.rigrite.com/Hardware/Rudder_Hardware/Pintles&Gudgeons.php#Standard%20Gudgeons

There are a lot listed with dimensions so you may find a match.

Use buy a replacement bracket. Try ha few of the sites like Harken or Schaefer for 1/2 strap eyes.

HI,

I have a similar issue. The motor mount shown is the actual mount. Not the bracket. Shown is my boat's torn bracket.

Shipyard shops near me wanted to weld on the spot which I thought would be a disaster for a glass boat.

I opted to purchase a whole new motor mount from Ensign Spars. Nice new equipment, but the new brackets included are single bold only. Current brackets have 2 bolts. This leads to a problem as it's not a 1-1 replacement as a strategy needs to be developed for minimizing holes.

Soooo....Does anyone have extra 2 hole brackets for a similar mount?

And...on another motor mount note. My motor mount slipped out of the brackets a few seasons ago, ...with the motor which had a poorly adjusted reverse tiller lock out of the box. Motor and mount both went into the drink. Afterwards I had a locking hole and pin put in the bottom post of the mount. I suggested a change to Ensign Spars and lo and behold, the one I received as new has the change and includes a locking pin.

Any help with 2 hole brackets or a strategy for minimizing stern holes/damage on replacing dual bolts with single bolt brackets is appreciated.

Regards,

Rob

I will also pursue that. Thanks.

And if hardwood, align the grain vertically, not horizontally. (Experience speaking.)

A good welder can fix that.

Zzzz

My current bracket has a crack in the metal and either I’m going to try and get it repaired or find an old one that the metal is in good condition.  I will also replace the wood.

Replace the wood with starboard or solid oak or hardwood

Does anyone have an old engine bracket like the one shown in the attachment that they no longer need? I am trying to replace mine. Thanks, Mike
