Hi,
I am new to forum so just want to say hello to all. I have been an ensign owner for 7 years now and I have an issue where I need to tighten my stemhead fitting at the bow.
There is a thru bolt with a nylon nut protruding from the stemhead and going thru the deck. I can't tighten the nut because it keeps turning along with the stem. I need to get under the deck to hold whatever it is I need to hold to tighten the nut. So what is the best way to do this. Do I go through the plywood that separates the bow and the cabin in the boat or cut an access hole in the top of the deck. Is there flotation foam in the bow that I need to chop away? If so how do you replace flotation foam? Any advice would be appreciated.
Best,

I have tried the screw driver method but it is difficult to hold. But you gave me an idea I think I'm going to try to wedge something like a wood dowel against the threaded stem of the bolt so i don't damage the threads and see if i can turn the nut. if I can't do this ill go through the bulkhead as you mentioned. Thank you for the advice.
